SSA+S SKATE TEAM 2008-09

The SSA+S Skate Team consists of 6-8^th graders who are not a behavior problem in the classroom and who maintain a 2.0 GPA.  We allow skateboarders and aggressive skaters on the team.  The team starts the first few weeks of school and will continue throughout the entire year.  We take field trips to Payne Park, 688, and the skate park of Tampa.  Our first year in 2003 we had 12 students, and last year we had around 50 on the team.  Along with the field trips we will participate in the create-a-skate program, where we will make our own skateboards.  Coach Dan has started a non-profit called sk8skool that is sponsoring a Middle and High School skateboard league here in Sarasota as well as throughout the state of Florida.  If you are interested in this league or in helping this grassroots movement please contact Dan Giguere.
